DEPARTMENT: Communications and Marketing

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and develops a social media strategy and the content to support and enhance public awareness of BOL and its mission. Respond to social media posts representing BOL ministry. Report on and work with BOL leadership to develop strategies to improve the social media effectiveness of BOL and it’s potential as a fundraising strategy.

 

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY: Authority as delegated by the Manager and directly responsible to the Director of Communications and Marketing.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Social Media
    • Develop and maintain social media strategy for BOL ministries.
    • Prepare and develop social media content to support and enhance BOL outreach.
    • Monitor posts to and analyze social media channels
    • Build a community of followers and strengthen interaction with the public
    • Understand and implement the commonly-used concepts practices and procedures in social media.
    • Stay up to date with the latest trends in social media
    • Communicate requests for follow-up materials as needed to appropriate BOL staff
    • Other projects and duties as assigned by Manager
  2. Development :
    • Assists in growing communication with BOL supporters.
    • Handles donor requests for information and assistance in sharing the BOL story.
    • ­­Assists in coordinating Sponsorship Weekend events.
    • Reaches out to major donors to register for the Sponsorship Weekends.
    • Assists in the organization and implementation of a gift records system to assure that timely acknowledgement of gifts and other correspondence take place, working in conjunction with Data Entry and the Director-Speaker’s Office as activities dictate.
    • Trouble shoot Raiser’s edge as needed.
    • Invites supporters to participate in the various projects of the ministry.
    • Communicates directly with supervisor about actions taken and planned based on the donor outreach program.
    • Participates, as an active member of the team, in departmental and team meetings.

1. QUALIFICATIONS, SCOPE, & COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

  1. Education: Associate degree or a Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university, and/or similar experience in social media, marketing and or development.
  2. An active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  3. Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
  • Experienced computer and internet skills
  • Knowledge of various software programs for completing duties
  • Exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, make decisions, and assume responsibility within the essential and specific position functions
  • Ability to competently compose express ideas and thoughts reflective of the values of BOL.
  • Good personal relationship skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects of unusual situations
  • Work within a team to accomplish ministry goals

3. WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. General working conditions of an office.
  2. No travel requirements.
  3. Physical requirements: requires time at a computer or at desk, with minimal standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting (maximum of 50 lbs.)
  4. Statistics:
    • 38 regular hours per month
    • Does not require variable or weekend work
    • Office clothing required
