POSITION SUMMARY: Serve Adventist Media Ministries (AMM) to develop, update, administrate and communicate Human Resources policies and programs.

 

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY: Authority as delegated by the Adventist Media Ministries Executive Board. Responsible for developing and overseeing AMM HR policies and practices -- in accordance with Adventist Media Ministries and North American Division policy and objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Report directly to the NAD Media VP and function as a liaison between management and staff.
  • ­­Recommends, formulates, and communicates personnel policies in compliance to state and federal regulations and the objectives and goals of Adventist Media Ministries.
  • Manages, communicates, and maintains a salary administration program, as established by the North American Division, to ensure consistency and equity in salaries and positions within each media ministry.
  • Practice proactive employee relations in disciplinary action and coordinate all recommendations for termination or layoffs. Counsel with employee, assist with outside placement and exit interview.
  • Effectively work to reduce the incidence of occupational injury within the Media Center and to establish continuous training on disaster preparedness and safety in the workplace.
  • Must be able to perform the specific position functions as listed below.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the AMM management.

Specific Functions:

  • Personnel:
    • Responsible for the training and orientation of all employees to the goals, objectives and philosophy of Media Ministries
    • Advises and counsels employees regarding retirement and acts as a liaison between the NAD Retirement Plan office and the employee.
    • Establish, maintain, and communicate the employee suggestion and recognition program.
  • Department:
    • Advise administrative officers, department heads, and supervisors regarding specific personnel items.
    • Initiate and recommend policies and procedures to promote job satisfaction and productivity among center personnel.
    • Keep management informed of problems that could jeopardize the achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Media Center:
    • Advise administrative officers, department heads, and supervisors regarding specific personnel items.
    • Initiate and recommend policies and procedures to promote job satisfaction and productivity among center personnel.
    • Keep management informed of problems that could jeopardize the achievement of goals and objectives.

 

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

 

1. QUALIFICATIONS, SCOPE, & COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

  • Education: Minimum of college degree with an emphasis in human resources at the bachelor’s or master’s degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of three to five years’ experience with broad knowledge of employment, compensation, employee relations and training, and development.
  • Certificates: SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
  • Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
    • Necessary leadership skills to sufficiently handle the job assignment
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to exercise direction, independent judgment, make decisions and assume responsibility
    • Good personal relationship skills
    • Understand or be willing to receive training on a continual basis
    • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects or unusual situations
  • Membership: Member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

3. WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General working conditions of an office and production studio
  • Travel flexibility and travel hazards
  • Physical requirements: requires standing, walking, time at desk, reaching, climbing, and lifting (maximum of 10 lbs.)
  • Statistics:
    • 38 regular hours per week,
    • Will require variable hours and weekend work
    • Regular business attire
