ACCOUNTABLE TO: Directors of the Bible School & Evangelism Departments

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide training, consultation, support, and promotion for the Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible Schools and Discovery Centers. This involves the establishment of new Discovery Centers with associated Discover Bible Schools throughout the North American Division (NAD). Recruiting volunteers for the Internet Bible School functions (bibleinfo.com, kidsbibleinfo.com and biblestudies.com) is also an essential function of this position. Travel, training and teaching are core requirements.  

 

WAGE CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

  AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Authority as delegated by the Voice of Prophecy Bible School/Evangelism Directors. Responsible for training/teaching and establishment of Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible Schools and Discovery Centers, in accordance with Adventist Media Center and NAD policy and objectives.  

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct training events for Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible Schools in North America. Functions include: establishing new schools; consultation for existing schools; conducting training seminars; hold rallies and local church training events; promotion at Pastor’s Meetings, Camp Meetings and other related meetings.
    • City-wide evangelism training events is a key part of this position.
  • Promote, recruit and train volunteers for the Voice of Prophecy websites, bibleinfo.com and the Internet Bible School (www.biblestudies.com).
  • Provide consultation, promotion and training for Voice of Prophecy Discovery Centers.
  • Assist with updating Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible School local church records; follow-up consultation with existing schools by email and telephone.
  • Assist in supporting the Voice of Prophecy evangelism meetings/plans and other evangelists in preparation and follow-up through the Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible Schools. This includes conference-wide establishment of Voice of Prophecy Discover Bible School initiatives.
  • Work with Union and Conference leadership in establishing and strengthening Discovery Centers and Bible School/Internet ministries in their territory.
  • Assist Evangelism and Bible School directors in coordinating ground efforts for Voice of Prophecy major evangelism initiatives as lead supervising trainer.
  • Assist in coordinating Voice of Prophecy evangelism convention.
  • Assist in evangelism and training supervisory functions.
  • Participate in strategic planning and development of Discover Bible School products and training events.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  SPECIFIC POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide hands-on training in all areas and functions related to Bible work including how to give a Bible study, obtain decisions, make evangelistic visits, and how to keep Bible study students studying.
  • Provide hands-on training in all areas and functions related to the cycle of evangelism including pre-work, meeting, and post-work functions.
  • Assist with the Spanish and/or English language Bible lessons of the Voice of Prophecy Headquarters Bible School.
  • Assist with Voice of Prophecy Bible School Headquarters office-related tasks as assistance is requested.
  • Assist in providing supervisory leadership to all Bible school and evangelism trainers including contract trainers.
  POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in religion or theology or its equivalent. Preferable: Master’s Degree in theology or religion.
  • Experience:
    • Must have competency in the use of the Internet.
    • Ability to teach others in regards to the use of the Internet for Bible study ministry involvement.
    • Experience in teaching and training.
    • Pastoral, evangelism, and personal witnessing experience is essential.
    • Leadership and supervisory experience are essential.
  • Skills:
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Interpersonal relationship skills, organizational abilities, self-starter.
    • Experience in giving Bible studies and door-to-door evangelism is necessary.
    • Ability to teach and inspire others to action in personal ministry is a key part of the function; including preaching/speaking in local churches.
  • Member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
  INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  • In AMC/VOP: works primarily with Bible School personnel, personnel of other VOP departments and other ministries.
  • Outside of AMC/VOP: works with churches, pastors, Conference, Union, Division and General Conference personnel as well as the general public.
  • Principal Contact: Directors of Bible School & Evangelism Departments
  • Secondary Contact: Associate Bible School Director (office)
  WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office conditions, no physical hazards. There is lots of travel so one must be willing to spend time away from family and accept the rigors of travel. Some meetings and evangelistic outreach programs require one to be gone several weeks at a time. Most training events and rallies require weekend meetings.
  • General working conditions of an office and church facilities.
  • Travel flexibility and travel hazards.
  • Physical requirements: requires standing, walking, time at desk, reaching, climbing, and lifting and speaking.
  • Professional business attire is normally expected.
  • Will require variable hours and weekend work.
  • No special safety gear required.

POSITION SUMMARY: Operate the Discover Distributor Student Record System, manage Discover Bible School records, answer telephones, and perform general departmental office duties.

  3. Enter Bible study requests into database.
  4. Manage local church Discover Bible School database.
  5. Answer Bible School telephone calls, answer questions and/or direct to appropriate person.
  6. Assist with Bible School telephone, email and online orders.
  7. Manually grade Bible lessons, adding brief notes and comments.
  8. Reply to miscellaneous postal mail requests.
  9. Assist Bible School Director, Supervisor and co-workers as needed.

Prepare EveryWord, bi-weekly, and specific emails via Mailchimp; plan, schedule, and prepare social media posts; update ISSUU with digital copy of printed media; prepare blog postings, update website with PR material as needed; order giveaways for conventions; assist with convention planning, submit news stories to NAD NewsPoints, Union, and Adventist Review magazines; collect and maintain ministry stories and viewer responses; edit and proof material for various departments as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Minimum of high school degree. Some college experience preferred.
  2. Experience: Two years of related experience preferred.
