POSITION: Departmental Assistant (Receptionist)

DEPARTMENT: Bible School

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Bible School Director/Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Operate the Discover Distributor Student Record System, manage Discover Bible School records, answer telephones, and perform general departmental office duties.

WAGE CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to Bible School Director and Supervisor

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Must learn and be knowledgeable of the Discover Bible School system, Bible courses and materials offered, must be patient and understanding when dealing with students, Discover Bible School Coordinators and general public. Good customer care skills required. Multi-tasking required.

Specific Position Functions:

  1. Operate the Discover Student Record System (SRS).
  2. Sort, code and mail requests for Bible lessons to Discover Bible Schools.
  3. Enter Bible study requests into database.
  4. Manage local church Discover Bible School database.
  5. Answer Bible School telephone calls, answer questions and/or direct to appropriate person.
  6. Assist with Bible School telephone, email and online orders.
  7. Manually grade Bible lessons, adding brief notes and comments.
  8. Reply to miscellaneous postal mail requests.
  9. Assist Bible School Director, Supervisor and co-workers as needed.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SCOPE, AND COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

  1. Education: Minimum two year college or equivalent.
  2. Experience: Minimum two years general office experience.
  3. Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
    • Computer, data entry, word processing and telephone skills.
  4. Interpersonal Relationships:
    • In Media Center: Works with all departments, ministries, center services.
    • Outside of Media Center: Works with students, Discover Bible schools, churches, pastors.
    • Principal Contact: Director of Bible School
    • Secondary Contact: Bible School Supervisor
  5. Working Conditions: Normal office conditions. No physical hazards.
    • 38 regular hours per week.
    • Lifting 25 lbs.

POSITION: Temporary Part-Time Bible School

DEPARTMENT: Bible School

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Bible School Director/Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in the Bible School with the following functions: process incoming Bible lessons from correspondence Bible School students; code and enter enrollments on CounterPoint (CP) and Student Record System (SRS); process orders; open and sort mail; answer the telephone; other duties as assigned.

WAGE CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Authority as delegated by the Bible School Director and supervisor.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Process and grade student lessons in assigned Bible Courses. Keep student records up to date. Keep Bible School material stocked. Assist with sorting and opening mail. Answer the telephone. Process orders (online, telephone and email). Other assigned duties as needed.

Specific Position Functions:

  1. Sort incoming mail and distribute.
  2. Manually grade Bible lessons, adding brief notes and comments.
  3. Identify and follow-up of students questions and needs.
  4. Update the students records (Bible School database).
  5. Assist with prayer requests for bibleinfo.com. Includes printing for Prayer Box and posting to bibleinfo.com for the volunteers to respond. Listen to voice mails from the prayer line and make sure individuals are called back as needed.
  6. Follow up with current students, graduates and new students with the local churches.
  7. Prepare diplomas, then mail the diplomas and file the request forms.
  8. Assist with telephone, email and online orders.

QUALIFICATIONS, SCOPE, AND COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

  1. Education: High School graduate with college level classes.
  2. Experience: Training or experience in Bible study ministry is preferable.
  3. Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
    • General completer knowledge, typing (40 wpm), use Microsoft Word, good comprehension and organizational skills, understanding of Seventh-day Adventist doctrinal teachings.
    • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects or changing situations.
  4. Interpersonal Relationships:
    • Bible School Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director.
    • Bible School Employees; Voice of Prophecy Employees.
    • Pastors, churches and students as needed.
  5. Working Conditions: Normal office conditions. No physical hazards.

POSITION: DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT - MARKETING

LOCATION: CHATTANOOGA, TN

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating the development and editing of the ministry’s quarterly magazine, Impressions. Coordinates the scheduling and content management of social media and web postings. Responsible for representing the ministry via communication and events within and outside the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

STATUS: Non-exempt

JOB DUTIES: Write TV program descriptions. Maintain, update, and distribute pressroom webpage and PR photo drive; plan, direct, compile, and edit Impressions magazine; reply to inquiries via social media, pr@iiw.org, impressions@iiw.org. Prepare EveryWord, bi-weekly, and specific emails via Mailchimp; plan, schedule, and prepare social media posts; update ISSUU with digital copy of printed media; prepare blog postings, update website with PR material as needed; order giveaways for conventions; assist with convention planning, submit news stories to NAD NewsPoints, Union, and Adventist Review magazines; collect and maintain ministry stories and viewer responses; edit and proof material for various departments as needed. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Minimum of high school degree. Some college experience preferred.
  2. Experience: Two years of related experience preferred.
  3. Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
    • Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to sufficiently handle the job assignment.
    • Office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, and project management software.
    • Comfortable with social media outlets and has an understanding of HTML web design.
    • Self-motivate with the ability to prioritize projects.
    • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects or unusual situations.
    • Member in good standing of the Seventh- day Adventist Church.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
